Wonderful Benefits of Watermelon

 Wonderful Benefits of Watermelon

A watermelon is not called watermelon for nothing: it consists of 95% water!

1. It contains iron, fiber, potassium, vitamin C, lycopene and beta-carotene, among other things. Beta-carotene is an antioxidant: it protects the body cells against harmful influences. In addition, beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A: good for your skin, hair and eyes!

2. Protein seeds, don't throw them away! Watermelon seeds consist of 35% protein and are packed with vitamins and minerals. Tip: roast them and use them in salads, granola or as a tasty snack. They are often eaten in Asia.

 3. Good for the line Watermelon is good for your figure: it has a diuretic effect, it contains few calories (only 37 per 100 grams) and it gives you a full feeling (day snacking!)

4. Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant Watermelon is full of lycopene. This is a very powerful antioxidant that helps protect against cancer and cardiovascular disease. But not only that! Pregnant women beware: American research has shown that a high level of lycopene reduces the risk of preeclampsia by 40%! Also good to know: lycopene is best absorbed by the body after a fattier meal (eg with olive oil, feta or salmon).

5. Better blood pressure Why watermelon is healthy? It contains the essential amino acids arginine and citrulline. These help build nitric oxide (NO). This substance lowers blood pressure and helps to protect against heart attacks. American research shows that if you drink a glass of watermelon juice with each meal for 3 weeks, the amount of arginine in the blood increases by 22%.

Cheers! In short: enough arguments why watermelon is healthy. What are you waiting for? Get a whopper of a melon and go through life (even) healthier
