Chewda or Poha its also known as Aval are flattened and beaten rice and is available as White Aval and Red Aval..

These can be eaten raw when it is softened with some water and milk.
Aval(Poha) is very popular dish in India,Nepal,Bangladesh.

 Poha  is the healthiest dish that gets the first place in weight waters,it is a wholesome dish that is light to your belly unlike other oil rich dishes.

    Aval is one of a easiest and healthiest dish which is normally taken as a breakfast which will keep you full.

White Aval and Red Poha are made from rice varieties:  White Poha is made from white rice by par boiling the rice and then removing the outer husk to flatten it . 

Whereas Red Poha is made from Red Rice however the same method is followed.
Recent times Red Rice is dominating among weight watchers,because red rice is enriched with minerals dietary fibre,vitamins,antioxidants and also red rice does not undergo lots of processing like white rice.

Red Aval also contains Anttioxidant(Anthocyanin)which white doesnt have. Moreover unlike White ones, Red does not undergo excessive processing so that the essential brain layer and its nutrients vitamins minerals remains intact.
People who want to control their sugar and obesity are advised to take Red Poha.
Red poha taste equally good as white ones and also it has more nutrition.


Cleaning Tip: Rinse the Aval several times in a strainer or colander.Rinsing the poha grains softens them easily. If your Poha is thick you can also soak the grains in the water for 5-10 minutes which will also soften your soften.

Healthy Cooking Tip: You can make your poha dish even more healthier by using ghee,olive oil,coconut oil or any cholestrol free vegetable oil .You can also satisfy your taste buds by adding some soya chunks or peanuts and nuts.
